Welcome, and thank you for stopping by.
I’m Angelina Dumarot—a proud mother, special needs advocate, communications and crisis strategist, and now, a first-time children’s book author.
This summer, I’m thrilled to release my debut book, Franky(sito)’s World, a warm and joyful introduction to autism, inspired by my son Frank and our family’s journey toward understanding, acceptance, and inclusion. Told through the eyes of a curious 7-year-old boy growing up in a multigenerational Latino household, the story celebrates neurodiversity, cultural pride, and the power of being seen.
At its heart, this book helps young readers understand what autism can look and feel like through a child’s perspective. It encourages empathy over judgment and invites them to be kind, patient, and open with friends who might experience the world differently.
When Frank was just three years old, experts warned he might never mentally develop beyond the age of 13. Today, that same little boy is graduating from high school and heading to college. He found his voice, and he’s writing his own story.
As an immigrant and mother, I wanted to create something that speaks to families like ours, a story rooted in resilience, representation, and hope.
Franky(sito)’s World is a love letter to my son and a tribute to every teacher, librarian, speech therapist, social skills coach, behavioral aide, and loved one who helped us along the way. Early intervention changed everything for Frank. It opened doors many believed would stay shut and stands as a reminder that no child should ever be defined by someone else’s limits.
I hope this book encourages other families to seek out the support, services, and champions their children need. Because every child, no matter their background or zip code, deserves the opportunity to thrive in their own time, in their own way.
Lastly, here’s what I’ve learned, and what I carry with me for every parent walking a similar path: Advocacy isn’t optional. Trust your instincts. Learn your child’s rights. Build your village. Know their teachers’ names. Show up to school support meetings prepared. Most importantly, never stop believing in your child.
Con cariño y amor,
Angelina Dumarot
Meet Franky, a curious boy who sees the world through the colorful lens of autism. Set in a loving, multigenerational Latino household, Franky(sito)’s World celebrates culture, big feelings, and the power of being seen.
Inspired by my son’s journey, this story is a reminder that different is not deficient, and that with early intervention, support, and belief, every child can shine.
It’s for every family learning to navigate autism, and for every young reader learning to lead with empathy.
I’ve spent over a decade in City Hall, using my voice as a communications and political strategist to advance equity and justice for families, immigrants, and communities too often left behind.
Now, I’m continuing that work through storytelling; partnering with schools, libraries, and community groups to host readings and create spaces where every child feels seen. Invite me to read, speak, or help build something meaningful together.
Self-published and available in both English and Spanish, this heartfelt children’s book turns one neurodivergent boy’s day into a celebration of identity, family, and the beauty of seeing the world differently. Perfect for classrooms or bedtime, it invites young readers to choose empathy over judgment while honoring Salvadoran roots, multigenerational love, and the everyday experiences of a young boy with autism.
